Ditching my 5d2 soon for Nikon next FF, since they have the 35mm + 85mm combo already! Really tired of Canon AF system.

Yea. Nikon is really doing well with all their releases much much better than canon IMO. The 60d is lame, and I have no need for all those crazy telephotos. Why not update the 35 1.4, 24-70, 100-400 add a 14-24, 100-200? All the advantages that canon had with primes are now gone, nikon has the awesome 24-120 to beat our 24-105 and they even have a truer walk around with the 28-300. Man. Nikon is killing canon at this time. And we all know the d700 beats the butt out of the 5d2 other than the video.

Just out of curiousity, are all Nikon bodies made in Japan?

Edit: Only D3/s/x and D700 comes from Japan. :)

That's actually not true. Even Nikon's latest primes don't beat Canon's L primes. Don't believe the hype. ;)

Is it just me, or is Nikon actually using Sony sensors?

They have used sensors made by sony but that may have changed just recently.
In any case their cameras are well built and handle high iso pretty well.

Canon should be embarrassed for releasing the 60D so close to this camera.

It looks like it has awesome features , subject tracking af in live view/movie mode is pretty cool. The dark side has absolutely smashed the 60D.

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't the D7000 the 7D's competitor? The 60D's supposed MSRP is less than the D7000. The D90 is a better comparison for the 60D. Also this is a crop sensor, so you really can't compare this to the 5D.

It does compete with the 7D, but it costs only slightly more than the 60D. That's why I was saying Canon should be embarrassed.

yeah, but nikon adds their own juice to it still. The D3x I think is a nikon venture though.

7D= 1699 body
D7000 = 1199 body
D7000 = D90 replacement.

no, not competitors. And it looks top and rear cover are mag alloy... so.. are there more that aren't that could be? Dual SD slots is a huge plus for me. I hate the move to SD's, but I'll take it if you're giving me dual slots for redundancy.

This most certainly trumps the 60D... swapping the standings of the xxD and Dxx series. Before... 50D > D90, but now, D7000 > 60D. At least from a photographic standpoint. 60D might have the edge on video since that articulating LCD really helps with that. And it's cheaper and more disposable for trying to get risky shots, heh.
