You were planning on getting the D7000 and decided not enough over the 7D but instead got the Oly Pen. All this before the camera even came out?

All this before the camera even came out? Yep. A few things turned me off of the D7000 and in the end I will more than likely keep my 7D until the 5D MK III is out or the replacement for the D700. The Pen will help with portability for those times I don't want to use a DSLR. Also my wife can use it because her P&S is almost dead.

I'll probably wait till the D400 comes out though. That will probably be better than a 1DIV. If you like the idea of a light body, I wouldn't get my hopes up on the D400...the D300 weighs in at over 900g as it is. The speculation (if that counts for ANYTHING) is that the D300 replacement may resemble the old D2x (a pro body'd DX cam), since the D7000 has been over-spec'd enough to push the D300's slot in the lineup...and the old D2x weighed 1200g (2.65lb), 54% heavier than the D7000. I'm tired of that old excuse...I hear it on nikon forums all the time and it really is getting worn out. So its ok if Tamron sells its lenses at a huge markup? I mean, Tamron USA = 7 years warranty. People would laugh at that jusification, but Nikon gets a pass? Seriously. AngryCorgi

Pro Body Some other fancy crap. Pretty much what every new model needs, no? AngryCorgi

Edit: BTW, there are website like nikonrumors.com that will give you specs and sneak peeks prior to the camera being announced. It's not too difficult to determine if it's something you want in advanced but you cannot make that final decision until it's release. I'm assuming that is why you put "All this before the camera even came out?". Hope this clears up any confusion. specs vs actually being out and used by folks is what he meant I think. specs and pics alone are only a part of the story. In the end i dont buy based on warranty. Its nice but i have insurance policys for that kind of stuff. -Omar- Flickr

True. At least Sony is making what they see as an improvement to an existing model in their lineup, more than what Canon can say about the 60D (all they brought along was late to the party features for it).

DPReview have, and they didn't like it for continuous shooting--viewfinder turned into a slideshow, and after a burst if you try to check your images the EVF and LCD black out and you can't even compose a shot. Too many people are hyping up the A55 without using it (I was excited about it too when I saw the specs), but in practice it's turning out to be a bit disappointing. It's a novel idea that I hope they can get sorted out next time around, but the A55 isn't there yet. It's a novel idea that I hope they can get sorted out next time around, but the A55 isn't there yet. Good question. One of those mysteries in life It's probably because Sony don't really have the camera expertise despite having the technological know-how to make a decent sensor. But who all are using Sony sensors? Sony of course, Nikon, and there are rumors that the next Pentax (K-5) will. Anybody else? Pentax K-x and K-r are also Sony fab'd. The only other DSLR companies are oly/panasonic and samsung, and oly/panasonic use a different format...Nikon, Canon and Pentax are, IMO, the major DSLR makers...2/3 use Sony CMOS in several bodies...successfully. Of the NIkon lineup, only the D700/D3/D3s sensor is claimed to be a Nikon piece...even the D3000 has a Sony CCD. AngryCorgi
