Just got back from the canon expo. Really great enviroment. For those that have some time tomorrow before 3pm head down to the javits center. Its free. I was able to use the 60D while there. My initial take: great cheap video slr. The screen will help a lot in that aspect. However, i wouldnt put much pressure on it. Build is slightly bigger than a rebel to me. Very light body. Feels cheap to be honest. Here are some shots off my iphone from the event. Ill be there tomorrow at 12 for another seminar:

60D in my hands:

Angle shot of the 60D being used by another person:

Entrance to Canon Expo:

This is the model booth. Here they had a profesional shooter using the 1DIV. Showing how easy the work flow can be and "the brilliance" of the 1DIV

I thought this was pretty cool. Every few minutes a model walks down this runway. On the sides are three rows of various different canon models with different canon lens's so you can shoot the models. At first i thought this was an acutaly runway show until i got closer and saw the cameras held by a leash to the bars

Great event too bad its only every 5 years.

Thanks Alex! It was a lot more than what i expected. Totally fun. Lots of mini photo shoots going on all around you. Great seminars where you can pick up pieces of advice that help a lot. Really a great time.

Was at the Canon Expo today. Did not take any pics for the forum. Sorry. Came away VERY Impressed w/ the 1DM4 combined w/ the new 300mm. The combo is very light, when taken off the tripod. Planned on purchasing the 300mm after the first of the year. Now I have to save up my money, sell my 5D, and buy the 1DM4 and the 300.
If you have the chance, go tomorrow. If you haven't signed up, they have laptops there to register, and get ID card.

Hope to play some more next month at the Javitts.

Also got back from the Expo. It was a lot more business oriented, so it wasn't as good as I thought it would be. It was nice to play with the 60D and 70-300L. I agree that the articulating screen does not give you a sense of sturdiness. It seems like it would snap off in a simple accident while it's open. And like viper mentioned, it did feel light and cheap. The controls also took a bit getting used to as a 40D user.

The 70-300L was very light and had quick and accurate autofocus. Obviously can't comment on the image quality since I don't have any of the files.

Ah forgot about testing the 70-300. I'll be on the look out for it tomorrow as well as the new 300 and 400.

It is very business ish but they offer a lot for all types of shooters as well.

How secure was the screen at that weird angle? I think that's what's being referred to as "not sturdy" because it looks like a very thin connection point.

I haven't handled a 60D, but the flip screen on my cheap A630 is very sturdy. My daughter occasionally carries the camera by the screen, and has dropped it with screen extended on more than a few occasions. It's not even loose. Hopefully the 60D has not dropped below the A series in terms of build quality. ;)

The screen is definitely not something you want to place pressure on. I can see a lot of people sending it back because it snapped off.

Sorry for getting back to you so late but the doors opened from 9-3pm. Today was the last day.

I couldn't register online either. However, they were taking registration on site for free. No issue and really quick!

Well guys had another great day at the canon expo:

Here are some more shots.

Canon 70-300L, wrote my mini review at the thread dedicated for it:

Heres is the model walk way. Something interesting i learned about it today. You can take pictures of the show (occurs every half hour) and afterward you get to keep the CF card! I thought that was a sweet deal even if it was a 2GB sandisk card

IMAGE: http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4147/4955563019_d656ce917c_b.jpg

The expo show floor:

Canons 4000p prototype camera. Who says 1080p is the limit? Not Canon

Another angle:

Hope you guys enjoy the images.
