I took this photo of my sister a few months ago, gave up on editing the color version, converted it to black and white, and now I'm looking at the color version again and still don't know how to edit it! All of my attempts have made her either look really pale or red. Any suggestions?

Why not mask her face so some of the original color stays? Personally I like them.

Yeah, it seems a bit bright to me too, but I don't know if it's my monitor. Can you apply the screen mode to only 1 part of the photo (like the shirt)?

I like the black and white conversion a lot - find that most successful.

eta - looking again, it's really the stray hairs that bug me on the color version - your crop in the b and white is better at eliminating the top strays - or you could knock them out in photoshop.
