Well, After months of thinking about it I'm finally going to pick up a 7D of my very own tomorrow at Roberts Camera. I have High School, Youth, and even some college football to get busy on and I just can't pass up the advanced features and especially that ISO performance for the price. I have happily been using the 1D2N, happy until I use ISO 3200 because pics just don't look that great, and forget about cropping at high ISO. I got my hands on a 7D a while back and I wasn't really blown away but man it will sure be nice to have usable images up to 6400 IF necessary.

So please everyone with a 7D, just reassure me tonight and tell me how darn happy I'm going to be after I empty my wallet....;)

Not sure your price.......but I would have gone with a Mark3 for 600-700 more....! I have the 7D, nice but I find Mark 3 so much better ( sorry).

For the sports shooting he mentions I think the 7D is a better choice .

With the MkIII autofocus issues?

7D was a great choice. AF is amazing, second only to the 1DMkIV.

Congrats! Check out these latest discussions in the 7D vs 5DII thread, where I just did a 1 stop underexposed 3200 shot before and after post processing, then a correctly exposed 6400 shot before and after processing. When you get the 7D, don't catch the stupid high ISO bug I have seemed to have caught. To add insult to injury, I have a 5DII coming shortly so that the 7D has a sibling, and I get to do all this over again! (now I need some FF glass though, at least a general walkaround :()

Oh, and here is a little home welcoming gift.... not for you, but your new 7D, it will help to make it feel at home and get it into the mood to shoot ISO 12800! ;)

7D is a solid consumer camera! I have and shoot both ( which I'm not sure you have), and 1D series cameras are tough to beat. I have used my 7D a fair amount..I still go to my Mark 3's. The focus issues over rated ( as with many things here....does anyone get a lens here thats sharp out of the box?) My cameras have had the fixes and get calibrated yearly, never had a problem with them! 7D will perform just fine...no worriesbut to put it above the 1D3 series...well.... just wondering why you don't see the pros using 7D's???

Welcome to the family, I am sure you will love it once you see all the cool (and convenient) features it has. It's auto ISO actually works decently and it's AF system is very good. Orientation linked AF point has gotta be one of my fav features tho.

I've seen Pros use 7Ds. I'll snap a pic next chance I get to and if I have a camera with me.
