Good luck with your new camera. When I get new gear I immediately spend a LOT of time testing so if there is a problem I can exchange it rather than deal with Canon service.

Well I just un-boxed the camera and put the battery in long enough to set up the AF, and a few more things for tonight's game, it's on the charger now so hopefully a couple hours will be enough charge time to get me through most if not all the game...(Fingers crossed). I'll be posting some pics here and in the sports section when I'm done if all goes well :D

Quick question....any decent third party batteries out for this camera yet?

This seller in the US sells the Maximals and I've bought from him twice now .

If this listing ends he will relist unless he runs out of stock .

7D is a solid consumer camera! ...... just wondering why you don't see the pros using 7D's???

Maybe you're not looking for them, or your not shooting where the pros are shooting? ???

I've seen Pros use 7Ds. I'll snap a pic next chance I get to and if I have a camera with me.

I was near one of the Press Area at a Minor League Baseball game a few weeks ago and saw two pros who shoot for the local papers using 7D's. had my 7D and 100-400mm IS L lens at the game, they were sporting 70-200 f/2.8 IS MkII and a Canon 500mm f/4 L. I had serious ' Lens Envy "

I've seen the same guys at a State Fair carrying the 7D as well as a 1 series. They said they like the 7D for the fast action stuff and more and more are leaning to the 7D full time.

If you think the 7D is not rugged enough to be pro, check out this picture ---> http://i.i.com.com …210/eos7dsnow_500x305.jpg (external link)

I've never worried about what the "Pro's" use. I'll do the best with what I can afford. In my case, 99.9% of the people I sell pictures to don't give a rat's ass what I shot it with, they just want a good picture and that's all I want as well. I believe the 7D will give me some better quality shots at higher ISO's and that's the big reason I went for it, and I like the size compared to the 1D series as I carry the body with a 70-200 around for 3-5 hours per event ;) Oh, and the AF system being quite good doesnt hurt either...lol.

Well, After months of thinking about it I'm finally going to pick up a 7D of my very own tomorrow at Roberts Camera. I have High School, Youth, and even some college football to get busy on and I just can't pass up the advanced features and especially that ISO performance for the price. I have happily been using the 1D2N, happy until I use ISO 3200 because pics just don't look that great, and forget about cropping at high ISO. I got my hands on a 7D a while back and I wasn't really blown away but man it will sure be nice to have usable images up to 6400 IF necessary.

So please everyone with a 7D, just reassure me tonight and tell me how darn happy I'm going to be after I empty my wallet....;)

Uh, weren't you knocking high res cameras here a few weeks ago? ;)

Yep, well kinda... :o
I just said most people don't need 18MP's

I still think that 18mp is overkill me and most people, but higher MP are inevitable if your to upgrade. If the 7D was 10MP I would be fine with that, there are more important things to me. I just got back from the game and I'm getting ready to go through the pics!

If you are just going to crop down to 3888x2592 or resize, your screen name still works! Hope the pics come out well.

Got a few keepers, this one is ISO 3200 @ 1/500th sec with the 70-200 2.8L

No noise reduction applied just cropped a bit...

Just went from a 40D to a 7D myself. Charged the battery and played around for an hour (it's already dark) and I'm blown away. All he remorse and fears about making the right choice are gone. This thing rocks!

Might be epidemic. Got my 7D Wednesday afternoon. Moved up from a Sony F717. I only have the kit lens 28-135mm right now. Gotta start somewhere. 50mm here I come. lol ... my bag is now bare with just the camera and lens in there, but already weighs more than my entire sony setup did. Awesome!

I print at 13x19 so the 18mp is perfect. I also do a lot of stitching. Most I have done is about 30 shots put together. Won't be doing that with the 18mp, but at 5mp with the Sony the stitching was necessary for nice huge shots.
