Between my brother and I we have a few Canon camera bodies, full frame and crop, and it just seems like more and more often I keep picking up the 7D for personal use and work as well. I get spoiled a bit with the speed and the video, even though we have the video on the 5Ds, the 7D is just awesome. You will enjoy it greatly.

Well I have gone through a few of the pics from last night and all thing considered I am satisfied with the results, especially the high ISO shots (3200) in which I didn't have to even apply noise reduction in post. I didn't stay there long, it had been a very long day and I was exhausted, plus it got cold and my dumbass showed up in shorts, flip flops, and a T-shirt  So I just stayed long enough to test out the new camera and headed home.

I'll admit that my keeper rate wasn't as high as I usually come home with when I use the 1D2, but this was my first game this year so I was a bit rusty I think :o. I will not jump to conclusions with the AF system until I have spent more time with it and had a chance to sit down and properly configure the settings, but last night I simply used the center AF point as I usually do, with the tracking sensitivity set to slow and pulled out about a 60% keeper rate (Maybe a little less).

I was shooting large jpeg with Extreme III's and I'm sure I wasn't getting the 8 fPS burst rate from the camera but I think that has something to do with C.Fn III and I will have to look into it. The camera isn't as bulky and heavy as my old 1D2, and my arm is thankfull for sure ;) Here are just a few more from last night...

Should track w/ point + expansion. It'll help tremendously when shooting w/ servo.

In my case (Since I like center point) you mean use center point with the 4 around it activated, correct?

Yes, if you really only want to track mainly with the center point, then setting expansion will enable the adjacent 4 points to help track.

But with the 19-point, you really don't need to limit yourself to center point. Helps a little with composition at times using some of the off centered points.

The camera slowing down from 8FPS in low light due to the new metering system is something I should have been aware of before purchasing. While in manual mode, which is where I shoot quite a bit when the sun goes down, the camera is noticeably slower  This is unfortunate. I thought it was just a setting in the camera, but after some reading it seems to just be a characteristic of the 7D.
