Ok here we go people, my passion has now officialy landed me a meeting with a Semi Pro Football team owner and GM.
They want me to do individual team photo's as well as many action shots.
I have to setup a meeting with them to discuss pricing and what type of contract details etc..
My dilema, This is my first possible paid shoot. The owner is extremely nice and is also a player on the team. He would like me to draw the details out and establish a price.
I am going with a digital image on CD package, since I really don't want the hassle of prints unless necessary. This will be discussed but is not a hard line rule.
He also says, he will be able to help me since I am just starting out, he said my name will be on all the credits (photos and website and roster bulletins),announced at the games,be on the radio and TV.
I am a bit overwhelmed by all of this, and need advice.
First off I guess it's time to go run and get my business license, think that costs what 20-25.00?
If you were just starting out and was going to shoot their season to build your reputation, what type of price can I put on that. My time...well is worth not much to me since it's on weekends and I love to watch football. So basicly just the digital photo's I take are about all I really need...I donot want to be near as high priced as any Pro's or businesses in town.
Can someone point me to or help me draw up a form/contract?
I just want to cover myself for any of the possible resale of the images, and maybe cover some extra gear if needed since it will be shot during winter.
They have also expressed an interest to having me administrate their website, which would give me great control over the images used...what type of price to set for that?
Man so many questions....so little knowledge of the actual business aspect.
Any input would be great....

Sometimes a company will try to land a beginner to do something like this, and they lump up all of the possibilities and opportunities to impress the beginner. They may want a single lump-sum deal to do everything in the world.

I think you don't want that. You want to break down each and every project by price. Do the shoot of the players for X bucks. Then you will take care of the web site for Y bucks. Then you will to the other job for Z bucks. Try to set it up to go for only a finite time, such as one season to end on a certain date. Then ofter to renegotiate terms for the second season. You are going to want to get some decent legal advice before you jump too far into this.

Each city has its own rules and rates for business licenses. Some are very high priced.
