Once you go FF you wont go back, the only thing lacking in the 5DMKII is the focus speed and burst rate but a great camera all round

Have you managed to give your D700 a good workout, isn't it meant to have the same focusing system at the D3?

courier wrote in post #11130315 (external link)
if you lot are going to talk about how great FF is all day i think im going to have to break my f5 button :D

the 7D is a big improvement over the 40D in iso terms which has similar performance to the 1D mk II

I got use of a 1Ds, and I love that. Not really compared photos though to my 1D.

Vic, you still got the MF 1.8 50mm for sale?

Yes still here mate ;)

Yes it does, its a big improvement over the 5DMKII almost I guess the 7D's focussing and the FF goodness of the 5D rolled into one.........maybe the 5DMKIII? or whatever they call it will be as good........but in the mean time the D700 suits what I do better..........have not tried the 3D tracking system on it though

HD TV question....is it worth upgrading to HD with a 32 inch screen ??

I really like the HD channels, definitely worth it imo.

How's this for taking a photo....

That's a very brave person! Don't suppose the resultant shot was linked?

There are some recovering bagaholics in here you know !!

This one is pricey but I keep drooling http://www.crumpler.co.uk …oduct_id=MDE390-002&size= (external link) I did get the large version once but it was too big and sent it back.

I think I have that one or the next one up. It's a great bag, but there's a lot of wasted space with the whole insert thing in those. I'd like it more if you could use the velcro dividers without the insert. I find I can't take much more than a body & 2 lenses (3 if one's the 50mm) in it without removing the insert (which I do, but then you have to stick everything in lens bags etc).

Not sure how the reduced file size will come out, but was a spectacular rainbow full 180 deg shame my back garden does not have a big sky view

I've had many Windows phones over the years, and the wife in now on her 3rd I phone I think.

I'm really looking forward to migrating to Android, the mobile windows OS's are just too slow and the app store (Marketplace) is well cr4p. Nothing in there.

I'm not a Apple fan, and nothing iritates me more than ITunes.

I manage my own content, and want to be able to just drag and drop images/toons/videos to my device as I choose.

I watch alot of videos on the tube while comuting, particularly things like Kelby training/strobist vids, and also use my phone as a satnav (TomTom) and often end up showing some of my pics to people.

I use 2 email addresses for work, and the other work/home.

I also use it as a mobile wi-fi device, but the software is crummy

oh and i occasionaly phone people, and even less often send sms.

my current HTC touch, is adequate at all of that but only just.

For me the most interesting device hitting the streets this month is the Desire HD

http://www.htc.com …sirehd/specification.html (external link)

The 4.3 inch screen ticks lots of boxes, and the fast processor and gfx will ensure nice smooth video/apps.

The HTC Desire HD was due out a few weeks ago, just in time for my upgrade time, however it's delayed until next week.... I'm itching to get my hands on it!

I got it for free upgrade, tarrif around £30 per month with 400 minutes, unlimited sms, unlimited data (soft limit to 3GB per month which is more than most, and no financial penalty for breaching). Oh and thats for 18 months

I really want a tablet for some of these functions but there's nothing out there for me yet....

I'm curious about Windows 7 mobile, but have made my mind up to switch to Android. Battery life may be my only concern.

Who's your carrier Rich? I'm with O2 and it doesn't seem like they're going to be carrying it so I can't just upgrade which is annoying.

Ahhh, another 10, 50 post pages to read. OK I cheated and skimmed through the photos. NICE!

Thought I'd drop by, as I've realised I leave in just over 7 weeks for the UK.
Been extremely busy, two back to back weddings last weekend, and still have a day job.

Anyway, would be good to organise a mid winter night shoot (4pm right? :p) around mid December.

Also how is everyone placed on December 26th? I realise it's Boxing Day (well at least we call it that in NZ)... Do trains work as normal? - I'm considering organising a large photo meet for this day for members of the facebook London Photography Meetup group and fellow POTN'ers.

I shall be hanging around London during the days of December 13 / 14 / 15 (Monday to Wednesday - thanks to Neal, my chaperone), sightseeing, and photo shooting. So could also do spontaneous meetups. Will likely be checking out
London Eye, couple of museums, Buckingham Palace, Camden (ok.. typical tourist stops) - Katrina has never seen London or ventured further than NZ / Australia.

December 16th, we'll be shooting Jon's wedding (motorsport photographer on these forums).

Around 17/18th, we will then be venturing up North to see Adam Gray (adam*) and hopefully be able to get as far as Scotland for 3-4 days. Although it appears most B&B / backpackers shut up over winter. I did Isle of Skye in November 2007 and had an awesome time. Perhaps we'll only get as far as Newcastle and Lake District.

Now to grab your attention, here's an HDR of a New Zealand beach a couple of weeks

QUOTED IMAGE

Brilliant shot mate, I would've just guessed it was a ND grad if you hadn't said it was HDR.

Looking forward to your triumphant (temporary) return. Will make sure to join you for a day or two.

HD is the future, once you've got it there's no going back, especially if you're a film & nature fan! :D
