I'd me all over a second hand 40D which would give option for a nice lens to partner it. If it has to be new it'd be a 50D though with that I'm guessing he'll be lucky for better than a nifty fifty from the change.


Having looked online he should be able to get a 50d with kit lens and still be able to get a nifty with the change.

The 60d is available for preorder (external link) not sure about the swivel LCD.

Excellent lily pond shot. I can never take anything interesting like that, they always come out bland.

Thanks, I used a circular polariser on my 24-70 for the wide shot of the pond, I wasn't sure how it would come out though. Happy with the result! :)

Nice shots Mike, I went to Bedgebury Pinetum a couple of months ago with my family, beautiful place and a very nice sausage and onion roll in the cafe by the lake with the ducks that sit next to you wanting some which my little lad thought was great, the only pics I took were of dragonflys and my son, kind of forgot to take some proper shots, after seeing yours I will have to go back and rectify that soon
