morning gang...

well done on the deserved acknowledgement folks! money isn't everything (honest)

and I'll echo JDs comment - kudos to Mike for oraginsing it all and reminding everyone and generally rabble wrangling! bw!

I am feeling completely unaffected by a few beers and a few more wines at the moderately restrained work do - which is good as it might make today go quicker!

in other news I recieved a cheque yesterday from Mazuma mobile, being a professional cynic I never suspected them to uphold their offer... but low and behold they delivered! worth a shout if you have an old phone kicking about! :D

We did very well to win a category, espesh since looking at most of the winning monthly submissions they relied on one photographer who's a specialist in that area for all their images (Great Notley in the Black and white for example, were all photos taken by the guy that won best overall photo, with black and white portraits of homeless people) Speaking to the bloke who runs it, it seems next year of the 3 images they will have to be taken by at least 2 photographers.

Looking at the submissions I think next year we can plan better how to score higher, knowing what the judges like.

Just logging in this morning. Sounds like a great event - pity I had to miss it (

work training events).

Congrats to Victor, Chris and Matt for a job well done. I was a bit disappointed that I got pipped into 4th place during voting but the team efforts made up for it :). Bit confusing regarding the prizes too - I bet a lawyer wrote the boilerplate.

Out of interest, can the guys that attended give us an insight as to the judges perspective? Its something I'd like to keep in mind next year. And well done Neal for giving them a prod re the Chernobyl article. I've heard nothing since October since I told them we want a full article not a single page afterthought like they were offering.

I might be out this evening doing some light painting. Had someone contact me through flickr about doing a shoot, so we'll see.

Apart from that though, not too much. I think it's going to be an xmas baking weekend :)

What?? There's a raffle? What's the prize?

It was 3 prizes, all Canon MP series printers.
None of us won.

To be honest, the Judges did not make any comments on the images, I did however make a video of the presentation showing the top ten clubs overall scores and they displayed about 5 or 6 top images from each of those clubs.
I'll stick it on Youtube when I figure out how.

Butter tarts, sugar cookies, some chocolate toffee stuff and possibly a gingerbread house. I just got this book (external link) in the post yesterday, so will flip through it tonight and see how adventurous I'm feeling :)

We should definitely go out next year and shoot for the competition rather than trawling our archives too. We did really well this year, you wait until next year :)
