Time to replace my xti. But can't decide on a 50d or the new 60d I'm leaning towards
The 50d coz of the body I heard that 60d is more of a rebel body. Anyone is 50d the right one

I'm in the same situation... I have a well-worn XTi that I want to upgrade.

I have no need for liveview or video. And I do want Micro-Adjust and the higher-res screens of the newer cameras. So I'm going 50D.

I'd go for 60D just because of the HD video and a swivel screen. If you can save up some more funds, get 7D and this will put you in a different category. otherwise 60D gets my nod.

I got my 50D because of the microfocus adjustment. Which they deleted from the 60D. That's a step backwards...

I was in the same boat as you, upgrade from XT to 50D and very happy with it.

don't really care about the video and screen.

So...50D

You will see comparisons between them and discussions everywhere.. mostly flaming 60D. I am planning to upgrade (from 300D, no less :)). I was almost sold on t2i, but then switched to 50D after playing around with them both (mostly because of the grip and overall handling), but now I am leaning towards 60D. From the pictures it looks like the grip is much bigger than that of t2i, has most of the goodies from 50D except for the build, MFA and a slightly slower burst rate. I dont care about build or burst rate all that much, and I am not sure I need MFA (it sure can be handy, but none of my current lenses need it). I cant use my CF cards or spare batteries, but that't not a big deal.

Bob Atkins has a (preview) comparison between 50D, 60D and 7D at his site (external link) based on the specs.

I would wait until some real reviews come out about 60D. I would also wait till I can hold one in my hand and make sure it feels alright. Since 60D will be in stores within weeks, you might as well delay your upgrade a few weeks.

If you want a swivel screen and Video and not to mention Digic 4 and more megapixels in a APS-C sensor...the 60D hands down. The 50D should be dropping in price as the 60D takes its place, so if you can wait a bit or buy used, it may be the better camera, economically. But if you can save up an extra $500, I'd say go with the 7D. Since the 60D is a slower, slightly poorer built with about the same features, oh, except the swivel screen, 7D.

Used 40D and put the money you saved towards better glass. Unless you REALLY need video.

Ha, even if you do "need" video, spend the $400 on a 40D and another $400 on a Canon HDV and then have $100 for Sizzler!

The Sizzlers are long gone around Philly. All we have now are AppleBees and Ruby Tuesdays on every corner.

Or if you really want MFA...then the 50D. If not, but you do want video and a flip screen then the 60D.

As the previews have said, the 60D appears to be more of a Super Rebel. Sized in between the XXXD and XXD lines, less metal, and includes HD video.

Thanks guys, actualy the 60d is already available in best buy here in Miami so I got to play around with all 3 I really like the feel of the 50 and 7d also the price of 50d went down to 1000 bucks. I would like to get the 7d but it's really to expensive for me.
