So I was out aurora hunting in a unique location. This place I figured would be really beautiful to shoot in. Unfortunately it was mainly overcast when we got there and the moon was barely visible. I didn't get the kind of shots I was hoping for but I got a few. Read all about it and check out the images on here:

A sample image from the blog:

Also saw some weird satellites. At least we think they were satellites, they were very very very close and about an inch apart. I'm used to seeing them while out and about but I've never seen them nearly following each other like this. Any ideas ?

There is a trio of Satellites that I have also captured more than once in images. They are the NOSS (Naval Ocean Surveillance System) spy satellites, Or ELINT Satellites.

Here is a bunch of information regarding them.

And here is one of the images I captured of the trio plus another moving through Orion.

Nice shots, Karl! Were those taken near the Salt River on the road into Fort Smith? The music does sound like a recorder - must have been pretty strange hearing that out there at 3:00 am. I'm heading up your way in 2 weeks for moose hunting, would you mind suggesting camera settings for photographing the Northern Lights?

Karl i tried listening to the recording but it was too quite to really distinquish what it was but my thought for a minute was one of those Indians pipe flutes (external link) or those PanFlutes (external link) that Mexicans play in their bands .

Yeah, I found that it was a bit hard to listen to, too. If you can try to attach some headphones to your computer and turn the volume up at the regions where I marked on the player.

I'm surprised the 5D mark II picked it up at all, really. Though I am disappointed with its performance at night, or perhaps I am not using it properly..can't get any HD videos of aurora shows yet. Can't get things bright enough.

I'd love to have some additional voice recording equipment but video is still very foreign to me so I'm browsing the digital video forums trying to make sense of the lingo.

Very beautiful music, weirded me out a bit...how did they get out there is what I was wondering.

A bit yeah, though not as intricate.

Looking at the high res' of shot #1 in this thread I can see a bit of orangey-aurora. Rare color, cool.
