THE 24-70 IS MY WALK AROUND LENS AND RARELY IS EVER REMOVED FOR SOMETHING ELSE.

The 24-70's great. I think it's the right choice. 24-105 isn't fast enough. I don't like the 17-55's build quality and lack of weather sealing. The 24-70 has great IQ. It is really sharp. I have no had a problem with mine yet. The chance of getting a bad copy is most likely less than the forum makes it seem like.

But you have FF bodies and the OP has a crop.

My 24-70 is on my 20D far more than either my 16-35 or 70-200.

My 24-70 is one of my sharpest lenses, I have no complaints about quality. It is a little bulky and heavy, but you soon get used to it. There are people out there who will claim that they have irrefutable evidence that almost any piece of kit is in some way flawed. In this case I don't believe them. This lens has received general praise for many years and my own experience backs this up.

So, flipping the argument around, the 17-55 isnt long enough ... it all boils down to a personal preference.
