How many folks are going to the big airshow in Pittsburgh?? Wings Over Pittsburgh on 11 and 12 September . . . Thunderbirds, F-18 demo, F-15E demo, Golden Knights, Sean Tucker, lots more . . .

Free parking, and free admittance.

Announcer will be simulcasting over 87.7 FM so you don't need to be near any PA speakers . . .

Do you any idea of show times? They aren't posted on the site. I am assuming 1300 through 1630 from the NOTAMs. However, I haven't been to show before and I would be coming form Niagara Falls, so it would be nice to know if I can leave at 0300 or 0500.

Thanks

Gates open at 9:30 AM, Opening ceremony at 11:00ish. Flying starts about 10:30 or so. Show goes until 4:30.

Coming from Niagara, cut across I-80 to I-376, then go south. Most GPS's will take you into Pittsburgh and then Northbound on I-376, but that will clog early with heavy traffic from the city.

Thanks for the info on times and especially the GPS tip. You were right, mine was planning to take me into the heavy traffic area.

Hoping for blue skies and a high ceiling next weekend.

Can't wait for this. I work in a building that overlooks the whole airport, and there have been F16s screaming over the building this afternoon. I guess they're practicing for this weekend. Going to have to bring the camera to work for the rest of this week. Unfortunately, my only lens choices are currently my 18-55 kit lens and my nifty fifty.

Nice! I didn't know there was going to be a B2 fly-by. I'm glad I rented a 18-200 lens for this!

Take it you work at Coventry? Great spot up there. I may watch the show from there on Sunday just as a different perspective from the airport grounds on Saturday.

I do, but just as an FYI, an e-mail went out from our HR department that they will have security blocking the lot this weekend. We all have to show our photo-ID to get access to the lot. :(

Many may have watched the T-birds practice this afternoon . . . it was a "low show" profile due to the cloud ceiling. Tomorrow they will have a full-up dress rehersal again, and the weather promises to be clear enough for a full "high show". So if you have one of those coveted spots to shoot from near the airport, look for the birds to be flying again about 3:15 or so. Of course, the actual show is Sat and Sun, with many other acts flying (including golden knights, F-15E, F-18, Sean Tucker, Harrier). If you decide to watch from off base on Sat or Sun, remember the announcer will be simulcasting on FM 87.7 for local reception.

I'll be watching for posts of your best shots!!

I couldn't get out to the airport but I did watch them on a radar display, pretty cool how rapidly their targets move across the airport.

Do you know if the C-5 arrived yet? Didn't see it near the C-130's today.

I saw a C-5 there on on Wednesday afternoon but by the time I left work it was gone again. Didn't see it yesterday either, unless it's tucked away somewhere out of my sightline, but still, it would be kind of hard to miss.
