I was up late Aug 23 and captured a good show of Northern Lights during a full moon. The 3rd image was taken with the camera pointed straight up!

I'm not home so I'm not 100% sure on the data, but its around f3.5 at 15-30sec with 18-55 IS at 18mm.

The last time I seen similar Aurora was when living in Brandon MB. Out here on the coast its a pretty rare sighting.

I have made it a point to go see this at some point in my life. Somewhere on the goal list between running the Boston marathon and owning a convertible. I would say that I'm jealous of those of you who live there, but I'm not...It's damn cold and dark.

I love #2 and how you captured some of the purple hue there, and the big dipper is so clear!

I'm actually in Hay River, NT. When I have a free night, I drive to the beach (of Great Slave Lake) or out of town to the field these pics were taken in. I just cruise out there and hang around for 30-45min and see what happens. Sometimes Aurora show up, sometimes they don't. Sometimes they are so dull you can barely photograph them.

I actually got some more from 2-3 days ago. Haven't had time to edit them yet, but I will and I will post when I do.

Great shots, Byoung. I'll be gassing up in Hay River in 10 days, on the way to Ft. Smith. Definitely hoping to photograph some northern lights while I' up there.
