For whatever reason I didn't go to bed last night. Instead, I found out about taking the front element off of a 35-80mm lens for a super cheap macro lens. Played with that for a little bit and then took some pictures at dawn on campus.

As always, any C&C accepted.
EDIT: I just noticed there is a few dust spots in the last photo. I'll remove those later.

The last one is cool, with the pink sky, the rest I don't care for.

The last two are quite nice. The others are interesting but don't do much for me but they are pretty neat.

Last one is good. I like the colours and the composition - those verticals on the side of the photograph frame the shot nicely and draw the eye in.

The others just look more like test shots in comparison.

Well the first 3 were test shots, but I thought they turned out better than expected. I'll work harder on the macro stuff.

The thing to remember with macro is it's not always about getting as close to the subject as possible and getting the most magnification - you still need to bear in mind composition and exposure etc.

I like the idea about having the eyes in focus on the money shot, for example. The other two macro shots would have benefited (perhaps) from having a little more context and possibly a tad more exposure (although I'm viewing this on my work monitor which is not not calibrated so I can't be sure about the exposure).
