I needed to buy a compact camera, because I don't want to drag my 5D mk II everywhere. I wanted something "special" out of it so I remembered that there was the freaky Casio compacts that shoot stills and video at insane speeds. I got the Casio EX FH100 which shoots up to 1000fps of high speed video and it only cost about 230 euros. Yes the resolution goes way down when using the fastest speeds, but you really can't get anything like it at that pricepoint.

I shot a music video with it and it can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l2XlX4wgn_U (external link)

It's a pretty neat still camera too ;)

yea not bad. but to shoot that speed at that resolution honestly is just a way to trick consumers into buying it. waste to take the time to shoot 1000fps if its going to be small resolution. not bad though, just not worth the price or excitement in my opinion

It's a waste if someone's expecting full HD video. Even if it is a crappy resolution high speed footage is always a bit magical to watch.

I agree. I bought the EX-FC150 for high speed video, so I can record my golf swing in slow motion. It's one of the best and fun purchases I ever did. To bad it sucks under low or even moderate lighting and should be best used outdoors.

Nice video! Very creative. I was actually waiting for the glass to brake at the end..:)

At some point I was thinking of buying one of those hi speed Casios. Their sample clips were very attractive, but I've read in the reviews that besides those slomo tricks they are pretty mediocre cameras.

Originally I thought about using actual glasses, but I would've broken a bunch of them and the cleaning would have been annoying. It's actually a very nice polycarbonate mug that looks like glass.
