Not sure if this belongs here. Had my camera a few weeks now and this is my first post. Not posting it on its technical merits but thought it was interesting anyway. I'm just playing about learning the camera at the moment. Let me know what you think.

It is interesting, I assume in Guangzhou or close? I think you need to attend to holding the camera steady ... with this much light it should be much sharper I think. It would be very interesting for those of us who have never been off North America to see pictures of China ... please. :-)

Ok, I have checked the original image and it is not 100% sharp, but it is a lot sharper than this. Somewhere along the line of PS'ing this has happened. I'll have to take a look at what I have done wrong. Doh.

Thanks for commenting anyway!

Another try. When saving for web I was saving it on the lowest quality possible. It still doesn't look too good compared to the original so a bit more time mastering PS is required.

Looks sharper, but then it is also smaller. Did you do unsharp mask/sharpen on it?

I would like to see more pics of Aisa as well. Did you resize the image b4 you save it for web? I found that would help retain an acceptable level of quality.

I agree with Dwight and absolutely agree that I too would love to see more pics of China! Being that I'm in the U.S. and just street shots(without garbagemen) would be spectacular to me and I'm sure to many others here.

I'd love to see A LOT of images of China ... it has been so strongly demonized by the Western governments for so long that many of us have never known it otherwise ... I'm 60 and never has a kind word been said about China by my, the USA, government. OTOH, I have a niece and a nephew from China (adopted). So how about it sixshot ... you be our Western/Eastern visual abassador? Bring 'em on! Would love to see street scenes, the beautiful women, the inscrutable men, the children, the buildings, the countryside, the love and life of China!

While living in a foreign country you'll find a million things a day that you want to take pictures of. I think I snapped thousands of pictures of Korea during my 3 years there. This image reminds me a lot of Korea but you wont see garbage men there.

Thanks for the comments.

I think I can be the Western/Eastern visual abassador. Its a nice title! Everyday there are bizarre things happening on the street, now I need to capture some of them and not just talk about it!! Over the next few months I'll be posting plenty more, mainly street stuff but I should be able to get some other shots mixed in too. And yes Marie, I need some more to add to my six. ;)

As for the shot. I did not do any unsharp mask/sharpen, however I did resize before saving it for the web. I played about with it a little, but don't know much about PS. I'll be picking up a PS book in Hong Kong in a few weeks, so hopefully I'll learn a thing or two.

The street in actually the 'bus lane'. The road itself has 2 lanes each way and a further 2 for busses, however cars, buses, trucks, bikes and people with bins can use them.

Well, Monday tomorrow and I have a day off and am heading to the zoo. That will start me off. Next month I'm heading to Beijing, Hong Kong and Macau. I have been to them all before, but not with a 20D attached around my neck (with a POTN starp of course!). I thinks my 2gb of memory will not be enough!! Best go shopping again.
