I like this, although the background looks a little to unreal, but it works at the same time! Maybe i need to see the full size image lol!

Love the idea btw, and very nice and sharp! :)

The monuments in the background are several miles away, plus the atmospheric haze/dust and late afternoon sun contributed to the appearance of 'softness'. MV is known for its pastel skies...very rarely is there stark blue in the skies. The full-size image does look much better, with more background detail. Unfortunately, the posts are size-limited.

Hey Julian...trip was about three full days. Arrived at MV on a Friday in mid-day, and left the following Monday, about mid-day as well. Days shooting were long...usually up and out at 4am, and shooting until dark. Have lots to get through...also some really nice sunrises/sunsets at the Mittens, sand dunes, as well as Totem Pole and Yei B' Chei, and still more from Hunt's Mesa.

Good work. I went there in July and was astounded. It was supposed to be three days but the Wife fell down at Zion the day before and broke her ankle so we got to the Valley and had to go home the next day. I took a morning Jeep tour and managed a few fair shots. I have to go back. At least staying at the View I got to see the sunrise and sunset.

Dang, that's too bad about your wife. Hopefully, she's doing better. If you do go back, your best bet would be to hire a Navajo guide outfit (we used Tom Phillips). They know the place like the back of their hands, and really take you off the beaten path.

Thanks argyle. Being in our 60's We don't heal as fast as when younger. Post some more please. My shots were mostly mid-day with a few from the balcony at sunrise and sunset. Did get to Hunts mesa and Ear of the wind, Big Hogan etc.
