I went to Myrtle Beach last weekend for 4 days for a mini-vacation. I made my first attempt at sunrise pictures while I was there. Let me know what you think, and please be harsh so I can improve.

2 is a nice shot. Something interesting -- other than the tiny birds -- in the foreground would have improved it. The first one has foreground interest, but they're walking out of the frame. Any image with water in it should not be tilted.

Both really nice images, but the off horizon kills the first one,

Good work

There ain't gonna be enough time to capture all the beautiful thing in the world, but I'm getting them one by one...

Thanks for the comments. I don't know how I missed the horizon on the first shot, I'll go back and fix that.

joedlh - would the first shot also be stronger if they were walking into the frame?

Well, we could have seen the bird with its hopes up that they two people were going to feed it... alas, we're left with the sad, sad bird who's still hungry.

Yes. From a composition point of view, when there is movement in an image, it's stronger to have it heading to the middle rather than the edge.

I suggest using the rule of thirds on the second one.

Could you please explain further? I have the sun at the upper right cross-lines when you break the photo into 3rd horizontal and vertical. Are you saying I should of put the horizon line on the upper third line?

Thanks everyone else for the comments.

I think I found a image very similar to the first but stronger (hopefully). Let me know what you think.
