Hey guys, so i've had the boomerang bracket for about a month now, and here is my opinion about it. And I tend to be the kind of person that i have to have everything perfect when it comes to photography.
First use of the bracket was on NYE with my Nikon D700 with battery grip, sb900 and a 24-70 2.8 lens.. and about halfway through the night i wanted to smash my camera against the ground along with the bracket.. i was soooo pissed! Reason why..?
1. On the pivot point where there is a 5 allan screws.. the 3 smaller screws are to eliminate any play in that pivot point... well they like to come lose, and then the play at the flash unitl is unbearable, but thats not a big problem cause i put threadlock on them and tighten them back up.
2. Second thing i noticed is that there is play between the camera bracket, and the flash bracket.. i think its the quick release system as they call it. Well to fix this issue, i drilled and tapped 2 holes above where the shafts sit inside the flash bracket. I will take pics of this and post em don't worry! haha
3. Those were things i noticed and had to fix after using it once... now the second time i used this bracket was to shoot an entire wedding, and with that everything was going great and i finally dialed in my bracket, and love it. But once little small thing that bothers me it that its really hard to hold the camera with only the right hand, so me and my dad are working on a handle that will go on the left side of the bracket, this handle will also prevent the camera from falling forward with heavier lenses. (the stock extra stand is pretty much useless fyi) here is a photo of the handle still unfinished...
