...from a wedding I had the opportunity to assist. I noticed that the exposures are a little "hot", but wasn't sure if that ruins things, as I subjectively like it. I have been shooting in JPEG lately, so it's pretty hard to save detail in the highlights. Critique is, as always, appreciated.

They look good, details on the dress are a bit bright, but its ok.

Question? Why shoot jpeg then make excuses for it? Why not shoot raw?

The first two look good to me. I'm not a fan of the third. The tilt doesn't work, her right hand looks awkward and there is a spot above her head.

Thanks. I have been shooting in jpeg lately because the fellow who is letting me assist him prefers that I shoot in that format. If I were shooting my own wedding, I would probably shoot in raw for sure. Maybe I could ask him if I could edit the images I take, and give them to him when I am done?

Thanks for the critique! I didn't even notice the spot above her head! I think I will take this one down and at least clone out the spot this time.

You could use the custom function on your camera to expose for highlights.. Might save the dress if you're shooting exclusively in JPEG.

Thanks for the tip! I have seen that option in my menu but never gave it a second thought.
