I sold mine when I bought my 5D, because I wouldn't use a 16mm prime more than once a year.

From the looks of the samples, you could crop it a little bit and it'd still be useful for the latter half of the zoom range...

Still, I'll probably stick with APS-C bodies (7d in particular), so I won't think twice about the purchase :)

Small world. I hadn't heard of them prior to this, but did some research when I tried to confirm that they were authorized retailers. Their response was speedy and courteous as well--seems like a good store. Out of curiosity, how much did you pay for it instore?

At least say 11mm f/2.8 prime--that's much more interesting on a ff than 16mm :)
Edit: Nevermind, now I understand the reasoning behind your statement.

But it's expensiveeeeeeeee :) More than 2x the price of the Tokina, and not in the same range on a FF or crop for that matter...

i really don't get your point here nor do i own any 1.6 crop cameras so hanging onto the past isn't an issue here ;).

especially when canon sells a 16-35L f2.8 zoom :D.

Yes, the DO sell a 16-35L f/2.8 zoom, but on my 1D it is only 16mm. My Tokina will give me 13mm on the 1D.

Of course, on my 5D the L zoom would cover 16-35 while the Tokina covers only 16 :-(

Yeah, I saw just how bad the vignetting was AFTER responding. It really is quite disappointing on a FF from 11-14mm.

I had the Tokina but ended up selling it as I didn't care for it on my 5D. I don't often use UWA and only really using 16mm on my 5D was of very limited use to me. I sold it off and right now am living with my 24-105. Still a nice lens, but to costly to me to keep around and only have limited use of it.

I use it a lot on my 1D bodies, sometimes with full frame film too. Works well, no need to sell it until I can afford a 14mm f/2.8L!

Don't use a full thickness filter on 1.3x or full frame though, it makes the vignetting noticably worse.

This thread just made this lens more tempting since I own a 7D and 5Dc.

Funny to see my reply from a year ago (couple of posts ^)

As in not/rarely needing UWA, that hasn't changed, I was this close buying a used 17-40 last month though, the lens was in mint condition, but it couldn't focus at infinity on my 5D. I was kinda bummed...(it would focus properly on the sellers 7D however)..oh well, so I'm still without UWA lens.
