LOVE IT! I was at the concert but one of the security lady said "no professional camers allowed" as I was taking some shots during opening act :-( I checked to make sure there were no camera policy on the "not allowed list" which they didn't and had no problem friday and saturday. I also noticed plenty of DSLR but I guess it was 100-400 f/4-5.6 that triggered the "intruder alert". Good thing I didn't rent 500mm f/4 :-)

Thanks for the compliments! I have press credentials so I had no problems bringing in my gear, and security was not an issue, just the typical three-song limit. They didn't have a "photo pit" so I had to shoot from the first row, and the people there were courteous enough to let me stand by or next to them with no problems. For Adam Lambert I was able to get center for one song, but the crowd was more tightly packed for Billy. That was fine since he gravitated towards the scantily dressed ladies which I was right next to.

I saw quite a few people with cameras, so the 100-400 you had must have set security off! I definitely think the 500 would have caused a ruckus =)

If you are interested, I have the galleries from the other big shows from the Waterfront here (external link)

Thanks again for the compliments!

Were you the guy running around with the R-strap?
Being a hobby photographer there is no way I can even dream of anything near the golden pass :-( Someone I know who works at Rockford Register Star said even they have tons of restriction on photos... I guess it's occipational hazard to stand next to "scantily dressed ladies" in concerts just to get the job done right of course...LMAO
I did manage to get some ok shots (at least I think) of less known bands for being my first concert attempt with 70-200 f/4. I guess I need to convince the BOSS Lady (wife) that I need an upgrade to f/2.8 :-D
Thanks for the link!!!
PS when is the turkey vulture migration season and do you know where I might be able to get some shots? That will be perfect excuse to rent a 300mm f/2.8 :-)

Nope, no R-strap here, just the camera, lens and that was it. I basically got there 15 minutes before the show, took my shots for the three songs then left. I only live about 10 minutes away, so I just had the wife drop me off so I didn't have to worry about parking!

I'd be interested to see some of your shots to see how they turned out.

If I remember correctly, the Turkey Vulture migration is late September/Early October. We missed it last year, but apparently Devil's Lake in Wisconsin is one of the best places to go for it. Would certainly be a great time to rent a 300 2.8 or even a 500!

Pretty nice.

In the last one, I'd crop a bit more off the bottom to loose the guy in the background.
