I rented this lens for the weekend and I know i will end up buying this beauty. Here are some shots from a stroll through this city:

Nice shots. I'm in NYC next week, can you tell me where you rented it from, the cost and what ID etc you need as I'm from the UK.

I was think of bringing my 70-200mm f2.8 mk1 but kinda feel its a bit on the heavy side for all day use and very obvious to strangers. I've decided to bring my 24/105mm f4 and 70-300mm DO as its so small but I might be interested in renting the 70-200mm f2.8 mkII at some point.

Thanks oweng! Listening to your statement regarding the weight and size of the original MK1 version makes me think you wouldnt enjoy the MKII as it is the same in terms of those negatives you mentioned. I rented my lens from adorama. I placed a reservation for the lens 1 week before i anticipated using it. You need to proide a credit card which will have a hold placed on it for the entire amount of the lens. Once you return the lens the hold will be removed. My totaly cost for renting from thursday 4pm-monday 9am was 40 dollars US. Hope that helps!
