It's nice to frame images with elements in the landscape, but IMO this takes it too far. The bridge has simply become an odd decorative border at the top of the frame and it loses it's identity as a bridge because the top of the bridge and/or the space above it is lopped off. In other words the photo doesn't allow the bridge to be visually resolved as a bridge because of the careful-but-strange cropping. I do like that the bridge is perfectly parallel with the top margin of the frame though. David | Flickr

I remember when Evel Knievel took his "rocket ride" into the canyon near there. Stan (See my gallery at http://www.pbase.com/sparker1

Sep 07, 2010 20:25 | #4 I would show you more of the bridge, but I cropped less than 1% probably. I actually framed it that way in the view finder. I see your point though. What bothers me is the shadow of the bridge. I may go back and re shoot when the shadow is less of a problem. I never even noticed it when I was shooting. I will add more bridge even if it means seeing all of the semi trucks on the bridge. The world revolves on opinions. Thanks for looking.

I don't think I've ever seen it used to frame the landscape and it's kind of fun. Nice job experimenting with a different angle!
