I know this is a bit out there but get creative. Im thinking baseball seams, golfball dimples, football laces I really dont care as long as you can link it to a sport. There has to be something interesting at the Macro level the average fan would love to see in your sport of choice.

Standard Rules apply:
Photo Submissions:

1. Camera - Any Canon DSLR camera
2. Lens - Any lens, or attachment that can give Macro photos (ex. extension tubes, bellows, macro filters, reverse mounted lens and of course a true macro lens.).
3. Time - any on-topic photo taken at any time is eligible, although photos that have won other competitions should NOT be entered.
4. Size - Please see the Image posting rules.
5. Post-Processing - do whatever you like and the host will decide if it works.
6. Posting -
* ONE MACRO PHOTO per photographer in each challenge.
* Photo Name/Title in the message.
* Camera model & lens used in the message.
* Post brief Exif data including ISO, shutter speed and aperture used in the message.
* Notes - anything you feel you need to explain.
7. Commenting - No commenting during challenge. When the posting is closed and a winner has been declared, comments can be made in this thread.
8. Questions - Use PM
9. Have FUN!

One challenge every week, on the following schedule:

* New Topic - After winner is declared.
* Posting Starts - Right after topic is announced.
* Posting Ends - 6:00 PM Eastern Daylight Time Monday September 13, 2010 . Winner will be announced shortly thereafter.
* Winner from this competition decides the theme of the next one (and judges it for a winner) after this competition is closed.

Sorry to all, Day late and a dollar short. Im not sure why I enter these b/c im terrified ill win and have to give the topic and set the date. Im awful with dates. Anyway, thank you for the great imagination and wonderful photos submitted.

4th place is Tennis Anyone. When I first looked at it I thought it was clever to take a photo of the net as well, then I looked longer and see the woven chords and realized it was the raquet. Great shot.

3rd place and probably my favorite (oddly enough) is titleist #3. I love the light, looks like an add. I would of loved to see just the top of the ei, or a bit tighter to obscure what im looking at.

2nd place Loose links sink ships. I love the textures and that its not a new crank. I love the scratches and detail.

1st. I must admit im a baseball fanatic though and its almost October. Seam damage is a great shot. I love the grit of the ball and knowing that its been well used. The colors and texture almost look like an old rag doll sewn together at the seams. Great shot, and LETS GO CARDINALS.

Play ball.

hooker771 we were getting worried about you, ;) but how can I now complain
Glad you liked my photo...
However I hate the Cardinals as I am a Mets fan and unfortunately this baseball represents my season (dirty, used and damaged)

Just a little info on Seam Damage, this poor baseball was the result of leaving it on the field and then the lawn mower beating the heck out of it.

Will have a new macro speed challenge going in a few ;)

Since you live in NY ill give you a pass on the METS. Other than that I cant think of a reason to like them, the only time I can remember liking watching them play was when Wainwright dropped a 12-6 on Beltran on their way to the series. Great shot none the less.

Way to go John! That baseball looks like it had seen better days (kinda like my Braves have). Great entries everyone else, and thanks for the comments hooker and pupsocket!
