I've posted this recently in a thread or two here and another forum. I haven't gotten much response either way which surprised me.

This was shot inside of an old abandoned farm house in the sticks. It was very striking when I found this room.

Anyways, I framed it to tell a story. I wanted the viewer to see the circumstances a bit. I also increased the shadow on the right a bit(adjusted black levels and a bit of burning) to give the eye something to offset the balance.

I think the photo could be interpreted as sad or cute or even creepy depending on your viewpoint. How does this photo make you feel? Sad, Creepy, Happy, ambivalent?

I feel like I'm locked in a room and going crazy. Wrote this on the wall to remind myself, no matter how crazy I get. Not sure about the kid...

It's a very...beautiful - even poetic message, that is wrapped in a package that gives off a very uneasy vibe. The darkened room with the grit and mousetrap at the bottom...the awkwardly placed photo of a young child...and the words themselves very exaggerated and in a very scrawled script that seems nearly psychotic.

My feeling is...unease. As I said, it's a beautiful message wrapped up in a very scary box. The picture of the child is really what puts the bow on it.

That's awesome - it'd be awesomer if that was written in lipstick and there was some drugged out prostitute slumped in the corner. Maybe I'm just demented.

I think it's an interesting image. There is some solid dissonance between the message color and wall color. The trashed floor adds a bit of mystery pointing to the past and who populated this scene and how it came to be in the state it is. The tiny picture of the child makes the viewer work to read more into the scene, to gain a deeper perspective. This is another form of dissonance as we are left with minimal information to draw conclusion from. The balance between the outlet on the left and the burned down right side works for me. It adds a sense of direction to the scene.

Thanks guys, it's very interesting to see your thoughts, as I had my own, but as I posted this, it seemed to go through views without any comments, which made me think others might be getting a very strong reaction from it and afraid to comment or something... lol

imo, it would be better if used with fisheye...to add to the demented effect. along with person/prostitute on a straitjacket with smeared makeup to finish the effect.

Panda, that would be interesting... too bad I don't have a fishy lens! I could probably simulate it with my 16-35, but I'd have to be awfully close in order to keep the same framing. (I was already pretty close with this and just a 35L)

lmao . . . but that's exactly what I would expect to see in that room.
