Been getting into Kayaking lately, and friend invited me along on a fishing trip to northern MN last weekend. no way I was taking the XSi - space being at a premium- not to mention the danger of dunking the thing so I took the old workhorse the 620 along for a ride.

3 day/4 night journey and was lots of fun. temps hit 29*F the one night. a wee bit cold on the hands but an awesome trip nonetheless.

Overall I was very happy once again with my 620. thought it did remarkably well under the circumstances. Here's a few highlights.

Day 1: 32* at 7 AM
not the largest rapids ever - but certainly a challenge to navigate dry...

by 9:00 however - things are nice and clear, up to about 60 once the sun came up

Once the first rapids are out of the way, it's turning into a nice clear day of easy paddling

day 2 dawn's nice and cold - cold enough that our water bottles froze overnight. glad I've got my 0* sleeping bag.

This and the the next are probably my favorite of the trip. I'm going to frame one up and send it to him. still looking for a caption. thinking along the lines of "fishing at sunrise" or something like that - gimme ideas if you've got any.

and the obligatory - yes we did catch fish. this was one of 15 muskies and who knows how many smallmouth we caught over the weekend. I believe this particular individual was roughly 34-36". Probably 18-20 pounds or so. the paddle head is about 18" long and the first set of fins behind the pectorals reached to the collar
