I am looking for a good neck strap that has small clips that attach to the camera (and an extra one for a long lens) and has small clips on either end of the strap that can be removed from, but securely hold, the camera.

I looked around and they all seem to be fixed and require a loop (like the provided Canon strap) to be affixed.

Does this simple strap design not exist? I'd like it to have a somewhat padded strap, but nothing too thick or heavy. Link me up to anything that you think is awesome!

Thanks!

I have a Crumpler Industry Disgrace, which is an extremely comfortable strap.
It can be customized with all sorts of quick-releases and other hardware to your liking, but since I don't wish to have all that hardware knocking around my neck and gear, I'll leave it to others to steer you down that road. There are many options available.

Am I understanding that you want a strap where the quick release connections attach directly to the camera's carry lugs, not to some "tabs" that are part of the overall strap solution? Otherwise, I'd say OpTech - get the POTN (OpTech strap with POTN branding) straps from the POTN shop (link at top of page) and check out the various OpTech connectors that Phil also stocks.

I ended up ordering the OP TECH Classic Strap that has the very short "fingers" that attach to the camera. I love using a strap, but I hate having it in the way when I don't want to use a strap - this is exactly what I was looking for! I do have another camera (1Ds II is coming!) so maybe I'll get the POTN branded one too :D

Caution: I got an Op-Tech with the clips that you speak of. Don't remember the exact model at the moment. But I regretted using it instead of the Canon strap that came with the camera. While on vacation at Beaver Creek, Co. I spent the day with the family around the village an ice skating rink.

The camera strap slipped off of my shoulder repeatedly that day, causing my camera and 24-105L to hit the ground three times in a matter of hours. I have never seen a strap that was as slick as what this one was. Granted I was wearing a leather jacket, but after testing the gripping power of both straps with the jacket, the Canon strap easily won out. It did not slip off when I bent over or just moved around as I normally do when carrying a camera on my shoulder.

You may want to test it out before you take it out for a days use.

I usually carry it diagonally across my chest over one shoulder, or around my neck - "traction" should not be an issue. Thanks for the heads up, though.
