The new Canon Powershot s95 has in camera HDR. It takes three exposures and combines them for HDR. I am sure this is a feature we will see in the future D-slr's.

I'd rather they just improve dynamic range on DSLRS. :)

Exactly..

An improvement in sensor design where the dynamic range is increased..

As opposed to HDR where the dynamic range is improved? ;)

I think he meant more dynamic range on the sensor from a single exposure versus multiples for hDR.

Mine too. When Apple makes a surprise appearance at Photokina, minds will be blown.

Wifes camera does this already.
I don't give a crap whether my DSLRs will or not in the future. I it does it does, if it doesn't it doesn't. I'm going to be taking the same pictures regardless.

You know, honestly the way that Canon has been pumping out features in the latest DSLR's, this would not Surprise me. I figure maybe next year, this will be in the new rebel series. They might also include the "In-camera" Photo edit and "Panorama" option too

Mine already has in-camera HDR...

It's getting it out of the camera that's the issue! ;)

I only see this happening for amateur photographers that don't know how to do it in PP. So this should and probably will only be in cameras that the mass public would buy, most likely in point and shoot cameras.

Take Care,
Cheers, Patrick

Yeah but how good is the photo straight out of the camera?

I don't seem to find it too much of a struggle to tripod the camera and take 3 photos using AEB and then putting them together in Oleneo or Photomatix. What I struggle with is getting the 'HDR look' after this point, whether that be realistic or the overdone look that makes me go cross eyed.

It's a nifty little feature, but if all it does is produce one image that looks the same as taking three and combining them pre-tone mapping, then it will do nothing for me as it's everything beyond this that is where the art and magic lie and frankly I'm pretty awful at that!

IMO, even Photomatix isn't doing it in post per se...

It's being done (sometimes abysmally) for you. Proper Dynamic Range control (be it in camera or in the computer) is an art and it's a whole different animal than just slapping 3, 5 or 7 exposures into an automated or semi-automated software package and letting it do the work for you.
