Hi All.

I have my first paid shoot tomorrow. I have been shooting portraits for about 6 months now and have gotten really good results with off camera flash. I have a couple locations in mind, but i have a few questions. I took my sister and her kids down last weekend to do a trial run through location to get test shots/practice. Ill be shooting with two xsi's, a 50mm 1.8ii, a canon 100 2.8, and a 70-200 f4..along with two 430exiis, two shootthrough umbrellas and stands/ wireless triggers/etc.......

1. I definitely found great spots around this park, but i struggled with the placement of the flashes. 10 oclock for backlight and 5 oclock for main worked great, but being that i was shooting at a park with waterfall/stairs/woods/trails/creek, I often wasnt able to set up stands at that, and when my main flash crept over to 4 oclock the results were not that flattering. The rest of the photogs down there shooting portraits had flashes on camera with diffusers. Is that the way to go? I can pick up one locally for under 20$ and just use the umbrella set ups for when i have lots of room. Thoughts? I tend to like the results more of off camera flash than i do on camera, but I want the session to be fun and as least complicated as possible.

2. Should i use the 50 on one camera and the 100 on the other? Or skip the 100 2.8 and go 70-200 f4? This will be my first time with two camera bodies and want my focus to be on composition/pose more, not switching back and forth continually and second guessing myself.

Thanks in advance for the help.

John

Will the model's parents be there with her? They make great light stands. :)
