Jay, tell your wife she is very talented - beautiful work! - Stu

Thanks Merlin and Stu. I really had to convince her, because she couldn't wear the result out to dinnner.

Merlin...buy the fabric and take it to a local tailor or seamstress. I'll bet the price to make it can't be more than $20.

I was, for a long time, debating between the gitzo 1541t and 1541 and couldn't decide.
Because I wanted the folding size of the 1541t and the height of the 1541.

I'm glad I found feisol on this forum, cause my problems are now all solved!!

Now, I'm 5'10, should I buy the 3441 t or 3441s?

Great review...!

Thanks. Good question. You can always make the 3441T shorter, but folding length is better with the 3441S but only by 5 cm. I think you still would have to bend for the 3441S. Ask Kerry by email at www.reallybigcameras.com (external link).

You know, thinking about it, the 3441T fully extended with the camera on it as in the photo in my review, has the eyepiece at 5'5", which is about at your eye level without stooping over. I think that would be the best.

Yeah, I think you're right.
I was just considering the 3441s because of the shorter folded length, but as I'm going to buy the tripod case and it fits the 3441T also...

3441T it is, then....!!

Now, what about ballhead?
I like the suggested Photoclam, but I dont where I can get them in Europe...

I would recommend the same Markins Q3t that I use. Photoclam has not had negative reviews here but is not as long on the market and as much used as Markins. I think the price differences are not that great for the same features. I know Markins is available in Europe.

I thought about switching over to markins but I have yet to find any issue with my photo clams (as goofy as the names are)

As a student, every little penny counts, so I think I'll go for the photoclam. ;)They seem to get very nice reviews, too...!

Yes, where did that name come from?

HI Guys, new here and not a photography pro by any means.

I do a mix of photo projects ranging from the backyard to the back country on
and off the trails.
The great and timely review of the Feisol tripods has taken my fancy. I need
just a bit of advice though.
My equipment is a Rebel T1i with a 24-70L, 70-200L and a long one in the near future.
Probably a bit light on the camera end, eh? ;-)a
I am 5'8", overweight and 70 years old but still get after it if things are kept simple.

I have tentatively settled on the CT-3441T with no column. Looked at the 3471 but
the length folded and the weight sort of soured that.
The ball heads have me a bit stumped also. I want a substantial head but one the
legs will fold back over for length purposes on a Lowepro Slingpack.

The Big Camera page shows the Photo Clam series and also a CB series at a lower cost.
I was thinking the CB-50D or the PC-40NS would about do the trick.

From here on out I need a little advice. In the past I settled for rather lighter equipment
and my photo results showed it. Is the above combination substantial for the demanding
situations one can get into in the back country with moderate weight equipment I described?

Thank you

Jim

I am having trouble finding 3441t on Feisol website. Even did a search but found no results for 3441t. I only found a 3441S. Am I missing something?
