My 580 EX had a busted lamp--I ordered a replacement and was careful with the swap. Now, as soon as I put batteries in, 2 of the 3 infrared AF-assist beams continuously stay lit and the unit won't power on! Prior to the repair (when the lamp was busted), the unit turned on and functioned properly--it just wouldn't flash.

If the unit completely failed to power-up, I'd assume either a loose connection or a fried board, but why are the AF lights on?! Is there simply the possibility that 1 of the 3 AF lights has gone bad and the unit now refuses to power on?

Has anyone seen something like this before? I've googled this, but no reports of AF-lights overriding all unit functions. I can't find a service manual anywhere, so I can't look-up potential problems/solutions...
