how about a 1D mk II? this is the ad he posted

For sale is a used Canon 1D Mark II. Item includes (1) original Canon battery, charger, body cap, DC coupler, and shoulder strap. According to 1D count software, the camera has just over 68,000 exposures. Everything functions great and the exterior shows very minor wear due to normal use.

he wants $675

The charger is the main thing you absolutely need. Batteries are about $35. I'd try and do a shutter check count that would tell you how much the camera has been used. I wouldn't buy it thinking "it is so old that it is going to die sometime." It's from 2001 - not 1970! You are going to LOVE the 1D. It is amazing!!!!!!! I buy it and sell the other things you don't need. There is a good 1D classic thread to check out.

The thing is I have never touch any 1D series in my entire life :( I don't know how durable they are.
Could you please point me to that thread?

Thanks a lot

1D+Classic

You now have me interested in it. You should go check it out. I think its a decent price if in good shape.

The 1D series is way more durable than the bodies you have now. I miss the 1DII I had.

Let's just say if you were to shoot a .50 cal at a 1D and 30D, both cameras would be destroyed. But the 1D would still look somewhat like a 1D whereas the 30D would be shattered to bits.

Theoretically speaking of course. 8)

Sorry, I don't promote violence. The 1d series is a very tough camera. Just make sure you test the body out and get a shutter count to get a general idea of the use.

I have a 1D, 1DIIN, 1DIV, 1DsII -- I'll never buy another non-1D body. They're great. They'll take the abuse and have not had any issues with any of them.

The 1D I bought for $400 about 1.5 years ago, and love it for the extra fast xsync speed. I cannot vouch for this user, but a low count (mine only has 10k on it) 1D is worth $400 easily.

I'll be posting a 1D Classic soon with original charger, 2 almost new Lenmar batteries, Quantaray 900WA speedlight and Tamron 70-300 for that price so I think that's about right.

I'd offer him $550... That way, the $50 can at least cover a
couple decent generic batteries...

I'd also sell the pair of canon batteries in as is condition for
cheap (I dunno $50?) on the forum. someone may just need
a few spares and doesn't want to go generic.

Quite a lot better than the classic. You lose the 1/500 flash sync but a better camera overall.
