To me, "white box? means refurbished, but it says new after that, so who knows?

I've read speculations about refurbished or being sold out from a kit. As long as it works well, who cares though? The box will only collect dust or be thrown out. It's what's in the box that matters most!

if it came w/ 1 year warranty then it's probably from a kit, if 90 day then it's refurbished. however i wasn't able to locate centraldigital on the canon authorized dealers list.

My online buyers guide (LOL) shows this lens as best priced from BH or Adorama at 720US. I would definately question what it is they're selling. There's usually not a huge price gap from one retailer to the next.

If you check www.resellerratings.com (external link) and look at their negative/lowest feedback, they are all horror stories. Upselling when you call them, items that are confirmed "instock" are not in stock, 2 weeks + of waiting with still no shipment.

I would stay away and use somebody more reputable.

From my experience this guys are serious !
I ordered a Tokina 11-16mm, back in April when was hard to find , got it shipped home (here in Canada, Windsor ,Ontario) with UPS 2nd day, a friend of mine spent over 3000$ camera lenses, without problems or delays with this retailer. Not too many online retailers are shipping to Canada, well we pay taxes and extra for shipping.
Thx for feedback, they were closed yesterday, i'm going to call and ask some details about this lens/warranty.

white box normally means they separated a lens from a camera kit. That's usually completely legit (but frowned upon by Canon) although in this case I can't think of a kit that comes with a 15-85.

In the US I have only seen the 18-135 as a kit lens. Is there a 15-85 kit from Canon?

Oh... Hmm... It seems the 15-85mm bundle may be Canada-only.

IN that case there is nothing to worry about since the OP is in Canada. White box lenses are not that uncommon and still have full warranty.

Provided the retailer is selling non-grey market goods to begin with. This is a US retailer... Browsing around the site, most of the bodies are marked as "IMPORT VERSION". If the white-box lens is taken from a grey market kit, no warranty.

The site is also offering bodies/lenses at a full $200-300 less than the lowest price on www.canonpricewatch.com (external link), which also sends up a few warning bells...

Yes. There are 15-85, 18-135, and 28-135 kits available, however at least 90% of the US kits are 28-135.

Canon NZ list the 7D and 15-85mm as the 7D "platinum kit" on there website and they don't seem to have the 28-135mm as a kit option
