I took my T/A out for a shoot last Sunday. Here's a few shots that I liked the best. I darkened the sky with Curves in #2 and #3. I brightened the trees in #6 with Curves. I bumped the color temp and "blacks" adjustment in 7 & 8 when importing with ACR. I just have a thing for that white paint warmed over. C&C is appreciated on photos/location/position/reflections/etc. I left a few parking lot lines in a few shots since I showed these to some people local to me to give them an idea if they want to shoot there.

All shots shown are with my 1DMKIIn and the 70-200 f/2.8IS. Exif data is intact. I basically took every shot three times. At f/3.2, f/5.6, and f/10, 11, or 13. I then would try to decide which DOF I liked best. Sometimes f/3.2 was just too much, and sometimes it was just right. In a lot of shots, a deep DOF seemed more "poster" quality while not being as "artistic."

I took about 170 shots over about 1.5 hrs. I moved that car and my FEET quite a bit! (I could hear Frank loud and clear!)

#1 - f/11 (I let the nose get over-exposed, and my Curves layer has a little halo effect)

#2 - f/13

#4 - f/3.2

#5 - f/3.2 (I really like the angle - haven't braved cloning the house out yet...)

#5 - f/3.2 (I really like the angle - haven't braved cloning the house out yet...)

The light on it is pretty nice. Brave making the WB on the car more neutral, too. Adjustment Layers are one answer. Post #9:
Airport runway shoot

As for the house, just crop it out. Not every shot needs to be 2:3 format.

Looks good,I like #5 the best.Where did your stock wheels go?I have a 02 T/A Firehawk with 4590 miles on it.I just took it out of the garage for the second time this year and took a few pics.None are that great, black is way too hard for me to get good shots out of.

It came with the std 16" chrome 5-spokes. I then switched to a set of silver painted ZR1 wheels (complete with Chevy Bowtie!), and then sold them when I got the 2000-only "swirls." The T/A looked like it was wearing running shoes with the ZR1 wheels. I miss them, but I always liked the swirls since they were so different. I drove it daily for 3.5 years. It's got 40K miles on it.

I like your Hawk! (and its little feathered friend!)

be careful with those gradients in the last two. That is not a good look for any photo. The setting and time you shot isn't exactly ideal either.

By saying gradients, are you referring to the darkening around the edges? What time is ideal for a car shoot? I thought by avoiding 10am-2pm was most important, and I like warm afternoon light. Thanks for the help.

Dbaker - thanks for the comments! Those Fikse wheels must be sharp!

Sorry I missed your post.

What time is ideal for a car shoot?

See the links in my Sig.

I thought by avoiding 10am-2pm was most important, and I like warm afternoon light.

Depending on the angle of the car, you can get an OK shot from 10am-2pm, & we take a lot of those shots at car shows when we have no other option.
'48 DeSoto Custom
I like warm afternoon light too, but when you have the option to pick the location & the time, you can make almost any car look as good as the "Beast". (external link)
