My first puppy portrait

This is Baxter the Cavoodle - my first grandpuppy! Aged 13 weeks.

He was sitting on his mums knee and I just tried out the high key preset that ships with Lightroom 3 and voila!!

lol one of my dogs loves the camera as soon as i get it out (she doesnt care what i'm photographing) she sits there waiting for me to take her pic

I must say I haven't heard of a Cavoodle. Obviously part poodle but he also appears like he's part spaniel?

Based on your shot, I'm also going to need to play around with the high key presets in LR3.

Yes a Cavoodle is a new blended breed popular in Australia at the moment. Which is a minature poodle crossed with a King Charles Cavalier Spaniel.

Baxter is actually more of a caramel colour however the high key effect bleaches out that colour.

He actually looks very much like Alf the Alien (80's American TV sitcom).

I may have made a big mistake. I showed the picture to my kids last night and they instantly fell in love with it! Then all I heard was can we get one?...can we get one?

Actually they are beautiful natured dogs with children. My son chose the breed because he suffers from asthma and allergies and their coats are wool (non allergic) and the best part is that don't shed hair.

My daughter has a purebred King Charles Spaniel (she has 3 kids) and it is a little bit more psycho than this puppy.

Nice photo.

Baxter seems to be a bit serious in that shot.
