Depends on what you consider Professional Vs Consumer.

The Canon XL1 could take EOS lenses and from a Professional POV, the XL1 was a (high end) Consumer camera.

xl2 is still a good camera

XL1 and XL2 are very good cameras but to me, "Professional" means:

it would be funny to see regular people walking around with those lol

I'm not saying that even the Pros aren't looking for lower cost alternatives to the very high-end broadcast gear.

Heck, they're producing network-level shows on 5DMkIIs. I was simply pointing out that the terms "Professional" and "Consumer" are sliding scales depending at what level of the "business" you're working.

As a point of reference, this was my world for nearly 25 years so my scale starts a little higher than that of a lot of folks. The advent of full-up 1080p in much wallet-friendlier packages is having a very chilling effect on the broadcast world.
