Some of the coolest buildings here in Utah are the Mormon temples. The moon was very low on the horizon last night and this idea popped into my head. This was my test shot at high ISO handheld just to work out the exposure and positioning, and of course by the time I got my tripod all set up, the moon had started to hide itself behind the mountain range. I think I am going to go back tonight or tomorrow and try the same thing, but of course low ISO, tripod and use a composite exposing and focusing differently for the moon and the temple. I wanted to see what everyone thought of my "rough draft" though, before I put in the effort.

Good test shot, darn mountains! Hope to see it soon with the tripod. The moon looks huge.

Thanks.

Using a long lens makes the moon look bigger. This was at 400mm equivalent.

Nice, shame you can't get a long exposure and some star movement out of it, would be interesting to see that

There ain't gonna be enough time to capture all the beautiful thing in the world, but I'm getting them one by one...

I could try that, but sadly we can't see too many stars in our well-lit city.

I stopped in SLC for a night and that place was like the Twilight Zone. In fact, my entire drive through the state had something in the air. (And the beer is like 2%!!) Beautiful scenery, but.. haha

Yeah, it's different than a lot of cities (some good, some bad). What exactly do you mean by "twilight zone", though?

Oh, and UT beer isn't THAT bad: http://www.deseretnews.com …-greatly-exaggerated.html (external link)

Twilight Zone.. Meaning.. Weird? The people in general didn't act normal. Something about the way they carried themselves.. And what freaked me out most was how many people I had to ask just to find a liquor store! NO ONE knew and that's just not normal! ha

Ok, the beer wasn't THAT bad, but 3.2%.. You know what I mean! My experience at Hooters just wasn't the same. ha

Some would say that not having liquor stores on every corner makes for a nice city! There definitely are some tighter controls on booze here than in other states, but it's not dry by any means.

I'm sorry you didn't enjoy your stay, but it seems like you are basing your experience solely on access to alcohol?
