Just finished up a quarter, studio lighting was the most fun. The last project was portraits (with a studio portrait class this coming quarter), and I figured I'd share my favorites from the class:

1 - I had to work this one a bit extra in post since I didn't quite get the hair light where I needed it.

1 missed focus. You can see her shirt beads are clear but the face is a tad soft. Happens to me all the time. Bugger.

2 I feel may work better as a portrait instead of landscape. This crop leaves me feeling too tight. I think the light works okay here, but may have worked better with the ratios reversed.... or less power on the fill for more of a rembrandt?

3 works well. Maybe a tad on the red side.

I was trying to give the composition the same feel for the light (which was just subject high, and directly camera left), and he struck the pose as we were chatting a bit. I feel you on the tight feeling, but there was no way to recreate that moment.

Thanks for the comments! :)
