The way I like to use Lightroom in Library view is to use the loupe view on my main monitor and grid view on the secondary monitor. Unfortunately, Lightroom reverses this on importing new images (grid on main monitor and loupe on secondary) so, every time I add new images I have to change it back. It's minor, but it annoys me

I'm currently on Windows XP, but will be moving to Windows 7 soon. The way I import new images is to copy them to an existing or new folder in my catalog area in Windows Explorer, then synchronise the folder in Lightroom. At this point Lightroom shows me the Last Import collection, switches the main monitor to grid view and the secondary to loupe view.

Does anyone have any idea how to stop this? In fact, I'd also like to prevent Lightroom from showing me the Last Import collection after synchronising, so any hints on that would be welcome too!

Thanks :)

I don't use dual monitors at home.. But I recall seeing a dual-monitor loupe bug fix for Lightroom 3.2.

hello.

Thanks, but unfortunately I'm using 3.2 already.

Is physically moving the monitors feasible? Or just switching which one is primary?

Also - why not just use the import dialog? Does using the import dialog not cause this issue?

I can't really move the monitors - I use one (large, good quality) monitor as the primary in Windows, Lightroom and everything else, and another (smaller, poorer quality) as the secondary.

I use Synchronise as it's easier (for me) :) But yes, using Import exhibits exactly the same behaviour.

I had a look around Lightroom's settings, and it appears as if you're just out of luck, unless anyone else has any suggestions.

OK, thanks - I've had a look through the settings too, but I hoped I'd missed (or misunderstood) something!

Can anyone confirm that they do (or do not) see the same issue? I don't know if it's just my system, or whether that's what Lightroom always does...

You know, this would probably be a good question to post at the Adobe Lightroom Users Forum and see if you can get an answer there -- there is also a bug report section if you can't get a resolution. The LR team participates/watches the forum and is pretty good about getting bug fixes out.
