A Few From The N.C. Coast

Just got back from visiting the coatal area of North Carolina. Here are a few shots of some local birds I managed to get..

Nice pics! What part of the NC Coast were you at? From the Looks of the Cobra Picture you were close to Camp Lejeune area
Pic #5 looks like a female Boat-Tailed Grackle (external link) which are quite common in this area. Many birds are looking rough this time of year because they have been in molt.

tkerr... We stayed at Topsail Beach which is south of Lejeune.

I am very familiar with Topsail beach. From there, I live almost the opposite side of Camp Lejeune near Swansboro.
I've been down to that beach many times for one reason or another. Spend a lot of time down at New River Inlet near the nesting areas in spring and early summer months to take pictures.
For some reason there having been many of the migratory Wading and water birds this year, but you're almost always guaranteed to at the least see a flock of Pelicans or two fly over. They have a rookery the opposite side of the New River inlet on the Camp Lejeune side from North Topsail.
