Cheers Well, technically, a blurry background is bokeh, since bokeh means blur. However, there's a special interest in the "quality" of bokeh, meaning how details and points of light appear. A key aspect is the quality of a circular out-of-focus highlight -- if it is soft, diffuse and circular that gets referred to as "good bokeh". If it's hard, sharp, or shows the lines of a bladed aperture, then that gets thought of as "bad bokeh". Tony
