dancad, that's a very pretty little bird. Did you shoot that with the 70-300 APO? If so, amazed you go so close ... and very smooth Bokah. I also like the fstopjojo and Dante King Bokah.

A lot of these shots aren't really bokah shots tho' are they?

That blue and that pink go well together. The bee looks like he washed with way too much conditioner and then got tumble dried.

I've always used this to explain it to others:

"Good bokeh can be seen in the natural, smooth and coherent way the out of focus objects in the photograph are presented. The blurry blobs should mantain its basic shape and tone. Bad bokeh is when the out of focus blobs are presented in a DISTRACTING way. This can be seen as jumbled shapes, choppy patterns of light and dark. A common example is the out of focus donut shaped blob of a specular highlight, usually associated with mirror lenses, or the double images seen in the bokeh of some lenses."

Having said this, what specifically is good and bad bokeh is, of course, a matter of personal opinion.

Yes, this was taken with the Sigma 70-300 APO. For the budget minded this is a great little lens, I love it (until I get that 'L' of course...).Here's another shot of the same bird taken with the same lens...also with great bokeh...

Even though the 50mm f1.8 has some odd bokeh, I like the bokeh in this shot because it is different.
