I have noticed in the last couple weeks this lens has gone out of stock at most of the major retailers. B&H, Adorama, Amazon, and several others are all out right now...

Does Sigma just need to make another batch or is there an updated version in the works?

It's the Dark side. They're preparing for battle.

I doubt there's a revision except for maybe the finish of the lens.

They're probably just waiting to get restocked with the new Sigma 30's w/ the new EX finish. I got a new version 30mm f/1.4 from Abe's a week or so ago.

That might explain some of the asking prices I've seen for used ones.

I bought them all up so I can leave them lying around at all the places I go to shoot. One less thing to carry in my bag, and there's always a 30 waiting for me when I get to where I'm going ;)

I bought mine 2 weeks ago from the B&H superstore. I'm surprised they're out of stock. I did however get the new finish. From what I've read, I haven't heard anyone with the new finish having AF issues, so if possible, try to get one with the new finish when they have 'em re-upped. Goodluck!

I guess I should have ordered from B&H, my Abe's order was the old finish with bonus AF issues. I sent a RMA for a replacement. Thinking I should just try to get my money back and order where the new ones are shipping. :/

Got mine shipped from Canoga just last week with the new finish, so +1 on it having something to do with that. No AF issues here either, so again, another echo of that claim.

It took me several months to find one on CraigsList, but I'm glad I waited- $325 in mint condition.

Never mind; for those interested you can see the new finish on the 50/1.4 here:

So am I correctly interpreting that the line of thinking in this thread is that the new finish solved any focus issues?
