Curtis N, have you looked closely at the images posted here... do you see that some are actually shot from another angle... ;) (the aussies moon looks very odd and "upside down").

Petra,
If you wanted the same moon, you could turn the camera upside down!

does anyone have any suggestions for metering a full moon?
I used evaluative.

Can't. Try f8-11 and 1/125 and a suitable iso. And RAW of course. :)

I don't see a ;) so I'll assume that you're serious. Go outside in daylight & put the cam on "M" & set it at 1/ISO sec @ f/16 & see how it comes out on your histogram. Look in the viewfinder, turn the little wheel & see the needle move. RTFM & look at these:

I bracketed a bit, found this shot came out the best of all, so I kept it. Manual exposure. Generally I use ISO 200, f/8, 1/500 for a full moon, this one was a little dimmer so I had to open it up a little.

The best way to meter for a full moon is to use the SUNNY 16 RULE.
Set your aperture to f16
Set your shutter epeed the your ISO setting.
If your ISO is set to 100 then set your shutter to either 90 or something close to it.
Remember that the full moon is like taking a picture at high noon in bright sun.

Makes sense. During the day it is SUNNY 16 and at night with a full moon it is MOONY 11. I will have to get Websters to work on the word MOONY:)
