I think BW and HDR go great together for certain subjects, Steam Trains being 1 of them :)

Nice Jay. I'm wondering if the complexity of the sky doesn't distract from the complexity of the HDR'd engine though. To me, it all runs together in a bit of confusion. It's like there is too much going on.

Still working my way through the tutes. Great stuff!

Spectacular!

I am a fan of your HDR work.

I know this may sound stupid but how many exposures are you shooting in B&W or are you just editing to B&W?

Very good call, and I think your right ;) I did not notice that aspect till you pointed it out, and I'm going to add a little lens blur to the sky to soften it and see how that looks!

Thanks ;) I always shoot in RAW, so everything is color off the camera. I used 6 exposure's for this image and usually do for trains. I then edited as normal and then converted to BW at the end.

This Tutorial Video I made will show you my exact workflow, minus the BW conversion ;)

I was just going to comment on that and then I noticed this comment. I agree the sky is too crazy and you lose the seperation between the train and the background completely.

I think if you blurred out the sky and take off the PP effects then it would help much more.

Besides that the rest is quite well done.

Well it certainly worked for Ansel Adams. Except he did it the hard way.
