Gestalt Laws of Perceptual Organization - Law of Closure. The mind sees a round leaf and keeps trying to 'see' the whole leaf.

I'm not familiar with that law but in my minds eye, I see the whole leaf therefore, it isn't a distraction. I think the crop, or as the OP stated, his original composition is just fine.

Colours are beutiful, but I agree with everyone who have suggested a tighter crop

nope, no filters. There was a little bit of pp, but nothing to really alter the colors.

One more. This was another shot I did of the original image (on this thread), but it didn't come out as clear as the other. More of the leaf is showing.
